Searsolia oppositifolia was named by Pant and Bhatnagar (1975). It is not extant. Its type locality is Searsole Colliery, Raniganj Coalfield, which is in a Lopingian fluvial-lacustrine horizon in the Raniganj Formation of India. It is the type species of Searsolia.
