Taxonomy
Hyopsodus fastigatus was named by Russell and Wickenden (1933). Its type locality is Swift Current Creek, which is in an Uintan fluvial sandstone/conglomerate in the Cypress Hills Formation of Canada.
It was synonymized subjectively with Hyopsodus uintensis by Krishtalka (1979) and West (1982).
