Hyopsodus lysitensis was named by Gingerich (1974) [named as subspecies of H. miticulus by Matthew 1915b; mentioned by Gazin 1962, 1968a, but not elevated; implicitly raised to species level; retained at species level by Redline 1997, i.e., as one of his "lineage segments"].
