It was synonymized subjectively with Hyrachyus implicatus by Hay (1902); it was synonymized subjectively with Hyrachyus affinis by Troxell (1922); it was recombined as Chasmotheroides intermedius by Wood (1934); it was recombined as Helaletes intermedius by Radinsky (1963) and Gazin (1976); it was recombined as Desmatotherium intermedius by Schoch (1989) and Colbert and Schoch (1998).
