Taxonomy
Hyracodon major was named by Scott and Osborn (1887). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was synonymized subjectively with Hyracodon nebraskensis by Wood (1960); it was considered a nomen dubium by Sinclair (1922) and Prothero (1996).
