Marmota minor

Taxonomy
Arctomys minor was named by Kellogg (1910). Its type specimen is UCMP 12538, a partial skull ( Part of a left maxilla with P3 and, P4; part of a right mandibular parts of upper and lower incisors; right M2 and M;3 in a fragment of the maxilla; M2 and M3 ), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Thousand Creek Formation, which is in a Hemphillian terrestrial horizon in the Thousand Creek Formation of Nevada.

It was recombined as Marmota minor by Wilson (1937), Bryant (1945) and Black (1963).

Parametaconid on p4 slender and slightly higher than protoconid, the two connected by a complete but low protolophid with a well developed median protoconulid; the incisors and P4, large in proportion to the other teeth; lower molars wider than long.
