Astrocerium was named by Hall (1851) [Sepkoski's age data: S Ldov S Wenl-l]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Favositinae by Hill (1981); to Tabulata by Sepkoski (2002); and to Favositidae by Kiessling (2003).
