Taxonomy
Circotheca cotuiensis was named by Syssoiev (1959). Its type specimen is PIN 1343/7, a shell. It is the type species of Khetatheca.

It was recombined as Turcutheca cotuiensis by Rozanov et al. (1969); it was recombined as Khetatheca cotuiensis by Kouchinsky et al. (2017).
