Baikitolites was named by Sokolov (1955) [Sepkoski's age data: O Cara-u S Ldov-m Sepkoski's reference number: 651]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Lyoporinae by Hill (1981); and to Tabulata by Sepkoski (2002).
