Taxonomy
Cyrtoceras indianensis was named by Miller (1892). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is St. Paul, which is in a Niagaran marine horizon in the Laurel Formation of Indiana.
It was corrected as Cyrtoceras indianense by Bassler (1915); it was recombined as Elrodoceras indianense by Foerste (1924).
