Merycoidodon (Anomerycoidodon) lambi was named by Schultz and Falkenbach (1968). Its type specimen is F:AM 72139, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was synonymized subjectively with Merycoidodon major by Stevens and Stevens (1996); it was synonymized subjectively with Blickohyus auritus by Lander (1998).
