Metarhinus pater
Taxonomy
Metarhinus pater was named by Stock (1937). Its type specimen is CIT 2037, a skull (right half of the muzzle of a skull from the anterior part of the orbit to the anterior end of the maxillary with the canine and P1-M3 ), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is San Diego Mission (CIT 249), which is in an Uintan terrestrial conglomerate in the Friars Formation of California.
It was synonymized subjectively with Metarhinus diploconus by Mader (2008); it was considered a nomen dubium by Mihlbachler (2008).
