Pachyplanulites was named by Spath (1930). It is not extant.

It was reranked as Kranaosphinctes (Pachyplanulites) by Collignon (1959).

It was assigned to Perisphinctidae by Spath (1930); and to Kranaosphinctes by Collignon (1959).
