Taxonomy
Ammonites zigzag was named by d'Orbigny (1846). Its type specimen is MNHN.F.R02695 and is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Zigzagiceras.

It was recombined as Zigzagiceras zigzag by Enay et al. (1994).
