Taxonomy
Leptotomus burkei was named by Wilson (1940) [this synonymy was not recognized by Korth 1984]. Its type locality is Brea Canyon (Bed CS3), which is in an Uintan terrestrial horizon in the Sespe Formation of California.
It was recombined as Mytonomys burkei by Wood (1956), Wood (1962), Black (1968) and Korth (1988).
