Eutamias siskiyou was named by Sutton and Nadler (1974) [named as E. townsendii siskiyou by Howell 1922; raised to species level]. It is extant.
It was recombined as Tamias siskiyou by Piaggio and Spicer (2000); it was recombined as Neotamias siskiyou by Piaggio and Spicer (2001).
