Taxonomy
Palaearctomys macrorhinus was named by Douglass (1903). Its type specimen is CM 733, a partial skull (A skull without the left zygomatic arch and the occipital region; upper incisor, right P4, left M1, M2 and M3 present), and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was synonymized subjectively with Palaearctomys montanus by Black (1963) and Tabrum and Nichols (2001).
