Taxonomy
Mustela minuta was named by Gervais (1848) [type from Europe].

It was synonymized subjectively with Mustela rixosa by Kurten (1968); it was recombined as Palaeogale minuta by Schlosser (1887), Helbing (1917), Viret (1929), Simpson (1946), Morlo (1996) and Korth et al. (2022).
