Taxonomy
Patriolestes novaceki was named by Walsh (1998) [genotype]. Its type locality is Stonecrest Square Site 4 (SDSNH 3784), which is in an Uintan terrestrial horizon in the undifferentiated Friars Formation of California. It is the type species of Patriolestes.
