Notharctus venticolus
Taxonomy
Notharctus venticolus was named by Osborn (1902). Its type specimen is Am. Mus. No. 4715b, a partial skull (parts of upper and lower jaws), and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was synonymized subjectively with Pelycodus jarrovii by Gingerich and Simons (1977); it was misspelled as Cantius venticolis by Gingerich and Haskin (1981), Beard (1988), Gunnell (1999) and Gunnell (2002).
