Taxonomy
Perognathoides kleinfelderi was named by Storer (1970). Its type locality is Kleinfelder Farm, which is in a Barstovian terrestrial horizon in the Wood Mountain Formation of Canada.

It was recombined as Cupidinimus kleinfelderi by Korth (1979), Whistler (1984) and Korth (1996).
