Taxonomy
Perognathus magnus was named by Zakrzewski (1969). Its type locality is Hagerman (UM-Ida 1a-65), which is in a Blancan terrestrial horizon in the Glenns Ferry Formation of Idaho.
It was recombined as Oregonomys magnus by Martin (1984).
