Simidectes magnus

Taxonomy
Pleurocyon magnus was named by Peterson (1919) ["genotype"]. Its type specimen is C. M. No. 2928, a mandible (symphysis of lower jaws with left ramus nearly complete and a portion of the dentition in place), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Myton Pocket, which is in an Uintan terrestrial horizon in the Uinta Formation of Utah.

It was recombined as Petersonella magna by Kraglievich (1948); it was recombined as Simidectes magnus by Coombs (1971), Gustafson (1979), Wilson and Stevens (1986) and Westgate (1990).
