Taxonomy
Sciuravus undans was named by Marsh (1871).

It was recombined as Paramys undans by Cope (1873); it was recombined as Plesiarctomys undans by Cope (1883); it was synonymized subjectively with Sciuravus nitidus by Troxell (1923), Wilson (1938) and McGrew et al. (1959).
