Taxonomy
Plionarctos harroldorum was named by Tedford and Martin (2001). Its type specimen is LACM 138528, a mandible (partial right ramus), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is White Bluffs, which is in a Blancan terrestrial horizon in the Ringold Formation of Washington.
