Peromyscus oklahomensis was named by Stephens (1960). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Doby Springs, which is in an Irvingtonian terrestrial horizon in Oklahoma.
It was recombined as Podomys oklahomensis by Morgan and White (1995).
