Taxonomy
Poebrotherium chadronense was named by Prothero (1996). Its type specimen is TMM 40504-22, a partial skeleton (skull and partial skeleton), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Airstrip (TMM 40504), which is in a Chadronian terrestrial horizon in the Capote Mountain Tuff Formation of Texas.

D. R. Prothero 1996Medium-small sized Poebrotherium (M1-3 length = 33-35 mm) with a distinct posterolingual cusp on P3 and a wider P4 than P. eximium. Intermediate in size between P. franki and P. eximium or P. wilsoni.
