Pogonodon cismontanus

Taxonomy
Pogonodon cismontanus was named by Thorpe (1920). Its type specimen is YPM 10053, a mandible ( a complete left mandibular ramus and the anterior portion of the right), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Hermosa (Oligocene), which is in a Whitneyan terrestrial horizon in the Brule Formation of South Dakota.

It was recombined as Dinictis cismontanus by Scott and Jepsen (1936); it was synonymized subjectively with Pogonodon platycopis by Bryant (1996).
