Taxonomy
Bathyopsoides harrisorum was named by Patterson (1939) [genotype]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Coffee Pot, which is in a Clarkforkian terrestrial horizon in the DeBeque Formation of Colorado.
It was synonymized subjectively with Prodinoceras newbilli by Kihm (1984); it was recombined as Probathyopsis harrisorum by Thewissen and Gingerich (1987); it was recombined as Prodinoceras harrisorum by Lucas and Schoch (1998).
