Taxonomy
Procamelus edensis was named by Frick (1921). Its type locality is Mount Eden, which is in a Hemphillian terrestrial horizon in the Mt. Eden Formation of California.
It was recombined as Pliauchenia edensis by Stirton and Goeriz (1942); it was considered a nomen vanum by Gregory (1942) and Honey et al. (1998); it was recombined as Hemiauchenia edensis by Meachen (2005).
