Proheteromys incohatus

Taxonomy
Akmaiomys incohatus was named by Reeder (1960) [genotype]. Its type locality is Cedar Creek (Lower), which is in an Orellan terrestrial horizon in the Brule Formation of Colorado. It is the type species of Akmaiomys.

It was synonymized subjectively with Heliscomys vetus by Black (1965); it was recombined as Proheteromys incohatus by Gawne (1975) and Wood (1980); it was considered a nomen dubium by Korth (1994).
