Taxonomy
Promylagaulus riggsi was named by McGrew (1941) [genotype]. Its type locality is FMNH Rosebud 2, which is in a Harrisonian terrestrial horizon in the Rosebud Formation of South Dakota. It is the type species of Promylagaulus.
