It was recombined as Pronomotherium madisonium by Douglass (1907) and Thorpe (1937); it was recombined as Brachycrus madisonius by Schultz and Falkenbach (1940); it was considered a nomen vanum by Lander (1998); it was synonymized subjectively with Brachycrus laticeps by Kelly and Lander (1988) and Tabrum and Nichols (2001).
