Lambdoceras hessei
Taxonomy
Lambdoceras hessei was named by Stirton (1967). Its type specimen is UCMP 32372, an other (maxillary rostral horn), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Flint Hill North, which is in a Hemingfordian terrestrial horizon in the Batesland Formation of South Dakota. It is the type species of Lambdoceras.
It was recombined as Prosynthetoceras hessei by Patton (1969), Patton and Taylor (1971) and Patton and Taylor (1973).
