Taxonomy
Didymictis dellensis was named by Dorr (1952). Its type locality is Dell Creek Quarry, which is in a Tiffanian terrestrial horizon in the Hoback Formation of Wyoming.
It was recombined as Protictis dellensis by Gingerich and Winkler (1985); it was synonymized subjectively with Didymictis proteus by Polly (1997).
