Dinohippus interpolatus

Taxonomy
Hippidium interpolatum was named by Cope (1893) [also said to be 1886, and also said originally to have been placed in Hippidion]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Goodnight's, which is in a Hemphillian terrestrial horizon in the Goodnight Beds Formation of Texas.

It was recombined as Hippidion interpolatum by Hay (1902); it was recombined as Protohippus interpolatus by Gidley (1903) and Matthew (1909); it was recombined as Pliohippus interpolatus by Trouessart (1905), Gidley (1907), Osborn (1918), Matthew and Stirton (1930) and Savage (1941); it was recombined as Pliohippus (Pliohippus) interpolatus by Stirton (1940); it was considered a nomen dubium by Azzaroli (1988) and Macdonald (1992); it was recombined as Dinohippus interpolatus by Quinn (1955), Webb (1969), Dalquest (1983), Kelly and Lander (1988), Kelly (1995), Prado and Alberdi (1996), MacFadden (1998), Kelly (1998) and Kelly (2000).
