Procamelus angustidens was named by Cope (1874). It is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Protolabis angustidens by Matthew (1901), Cope and Matthew (1915), Galbreath (1953) and Lewis (1968); it was recombined as Alticamelus angustidens by McGrew (1938); it was synonymized subjectively with Protolabis heterodontus by Webb (1969) and Frick and Taylor (1971).
