Apheliscus insidiosus

Prototomus insidiosus was named by Cope (1874). Its type locality is Arroyo Blanco (Cope), which is in a Wasatchian terrestrial horizon in the San Jose Formation of New Mexico. It is the type species of Apheliscus.
It was recombined as Apheliscus insidiosus by Cope (1875), Hay (1902), Matthew (1918), Hay (1930), Simpson (1951), Rose (1981) and Gunnell (1998).
