Adjidaumo quartzi was named by Shotwell (1967).

It was recombined as Pseudadjidaumo quartzi by Lindsay (1972) and Storer (1975); it was recombined as Leptodontomys quartzi by Engesser (1979) and Korth and Bailey (1992).
