Taxonomy
Manitsha johanniculi was named by Wood (1974). Its type locality is Reeves Bonebed, which is in a Chadronian terrestrial horizon in Texas.

It was recombined as Pseudotomus johanniculi by Korth (1985) and Dunn and Rasmussen (2007).
