Taxonomy
Raphictis gausion was named by Gingerich and Winkler (1985) [genotype]. Its type locality is Cedar Point Quarry, which is in a Tiffanian fluvial-lacustrine siliciclastic in the Fort Union Formation of Wyoming. It is the type species of Raphictis.
