Taxonomy
Allotropiophyllum was named by Grabau (1928) [Sepkoski's age data: C Tour P Guad]. It is not extant. Its type is Allotropiophyllum sinense.

It was assigned to Hapsiphyllinae by Hill (1981); to Hapsiphyllidae by Hill (1956) and Wang and Sugiyama (2001); and to Rugosa by Sepkoski (2002).
