Amaraphyllum was named by Pedder (1970) [Sepkoski's age data: D Give-l]. It is not extant. Its type is Amaraphyllum amoenum.

It was assigned to Disphyllinae by Hill (1981); and to Rugosa by Sepkoski (2002).
