Amygdalophyllum was named by Dun and Benson (1920) [Sepkoski's age data: C Tour-u C Serp Sepkoski's reference number: 2,1240]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Amygdalophyllinae by Hill (1956); and to Rugosa by Sepkoski (2002).
