Taxonomy
Sinopa shoshoniensis was named by Matthew and Granger (1915).

It was synonymized subjectively with Arfia opisthotoma by Bown (1979); it was recombined as Arfia shoshoniensis by Van Valen (1965), Delson (1971), Gingerich and Deutsch (1989), Polly (1993), Polly (1996), Gunnell (1998), Solé et al. (2014) and Borths et al. (2016).
