Taxonomy
Arctomys parryii was named by Richardson (1825). It is extant.
It was recombined as Citellus parryii by Crile and Quiring (1940); it was synonymized subjectively with Spermophilus undulatus by Ellerman and Morrison-Scott (1951) and Hall and Kelson (1959); it was recombined as Spermophilus parryii by Gromov et al. (1965), Nadler et al. (1974), Kurten and Anderson (1980), Wilson and Reeder (1993) and Storer (2004); it was recombined as Urocitellus parryii by Helgen et al. (2009).
