Taxonomy
Stelocyon arctylos was named by Gingerich (1978) [genotype]. Its type locality is Cub Creek/Hunt Creek PU Section 29, which is in a Tiffanian terrestrial horizon in the Fort Union Formation of Montana. It is the type species of Stelocyon.
