Sthenodectes incisivum

Taxonomy
Telmatherium incisivum was named by Douglass (1909). Its type specimen is CM 2398 (a skull lacking the ends of the nasals) and is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Sthenodectes.

It was recombined as Sthenodectes incisivum by Gregory (1912), Osborn (1929), Wilson (1977), Mader (1989), Mader (1998), Mader (2008) and Mihlbachler (2008).

Peterson 1934 (Sthenodectes priscus)Upper canine of. rounder cross-section at the base of the crown and with posterior cingulum less developed than in S. incisivus; cheek-dentition less hypsodont and cingula less developed than in S. incisivus. A short diastema present back of the upper canine, but absent in S. incisivus.
