Sunkahetanka geringensis

Taxonomy
Mesocyon geringensis was named by Barbour and Schultz (1935). Its type specimen is UNSM 1092, a skeleton (complete skull and mandible plus postcranial skeleton), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Redington Gap West (Basal Siltstone), which is in an Arikareean terrestrial horizon in the Brule Formation of Nebraska.

It was recombined as Enhydrocyon geringensis by Swisher (1982) and Tedford et al. (1985); it was recombined as Sunkahetanka geringensis by Macdonald (1963), Macdonald (1970), Wang (1994), Wang and Tedford (1996) and Wang et al. (2008).
