It was recombined as Bison latifrons by Leidy (1852), Leidy (1860), Allen (1876), Lucas (1899), McClung (1905), Cook (1928), Frick (1937), Skinner and Kaisen (1947), Green and Martin (1960), Kurten and Anderson (1980) and McDonald (1981).
